This is a story about two women in love who grew up together in a small town in Missouri. They are torn apart by the influences of religious control and an abusive father, each forced to live a life they would not have otherwise chosen, both held captive in two different ways. One is hers fathers prisoner living in a hovel in the deep woods of the Ozarks and the other has made herself a prisoner by staying in the house she grew up in, marrying a man and raising two children, pretending to be someone she is not. Their lives take many twists and turns as do the lives of the people around them. After fourteen years spent apart they learn much and find their way back home to reunite with friends and family, embracing their roots, embracing each other and most importantly, embracing themselves.

"Love and hugs to my husband and children for their great patience and for allowing me the time and space I need and desire to write. Deep appreciation to my mother for encouraging me to be a writer from the time I was twelve, even though I didn't listen until I was forty and for always believing I would be successful at it. Purple butterfly kisses and colorful rainbow hugs to my friend Mandy Wells, for proofreading my manuscript. Most of all sincere gratitude to the universe for allowing me a portion of its spirit to see it, believe it, and bring it to life!"
